An old Tradition to incorporate to your Day....

Try a who-will-marry-next tradition that Turkish brides have been practicing for generations. Before you start down the aisle, have your single bridesmaids (or any female friends or relatives who've yet to marry) autograph the sole of your bridal shoe. After you've danced the night away (and tossed your bouquet), legend has it that the person whose name has faded the most will be the next to marry. http://www.marthastewart.com

It is written for grooms to be by a past groom. The focus is on what the groom to be needs to know such as the Groom to do list, Guy Responsibilities, Style, Toasts, Ask A Groom amd much more.

There is also a cute Bingo Game there for your guests to play at the Wedding Reception. It will promote conversation and mingling amoung your guests as well as allowing for a few good laughs.

Additions to Your Cookie Table

Additions to your Cookie Table

Who doesn't like Oreo Cookies? I found this recippie that takes this yummy cookie and dresses it up to make it even better! You can view this recipie as well as her other recipies at:
http://bakerella.blogspot.com/

Oreo Truffles1 package oreo cookies (divided… use cookie including the cream center)1 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)white chocolate bark1. Finely crush 7 cookies in a food processor or place them in a ziploc bag and crush into a fine consistency. Reserve for later. 2. Crush remaining cookies and stir in softened cream cheese. Use the back of a large spoon to help mash the two together.3. Roll the mixture into 1" balls and place on wax paper covered cookie sheet.4. Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate, tap off extra and set aside on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry. You can sprinkle the tops with the 7 crushed cookies for decoration. (I usually eat mine before they make it to this stage.)5. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy!Makes about 36 truffles.Notes: I used a small cookie cutter to push the mixture through for the heart shaped truffles. Also, it helps to freeze the uncoated balls for a few minutes to keep the mixture from starting to fall apart in the melted chocolate. If this becomes a problem, dip them in the chocolate, let dry and then dip again. They are also good dipped in regular milk chocolate bark. And for an extra twist, use the mint oreo sandwich cookies

I came accross these cute and Yummy little Red Velvet Cakes turned into lollipops. You can view this and many other wonderful cakes she has made at:
http://lovelylittlecakes.blogspot.com/.

Mini foods are popular for weddings and these would make a nice treat for your younger guests, a late night snack before your guests leave for the evening, for a favor in ypur wedding colors or for a shower favor. The uses are endless!

Here is the recipie:
Red Velvet Cake Balls1 box red velvet cake mix (cook as directed on box for 13 X 9 cake)1 can cream cheese frosting (16 oz.)1 package chocolate bark (regular or white chocolate)wax paper1. After cake is cooked and cooled completely, crumble into large bowl.2. Mix thoroughly with 1 can cream cheese frosting. (It may be easier to use fingers to mix together, but be warned it will get messy.)3. Roll mixture into quarter size balls and lay on cookie sheet. (Should make 45-50. You can get even more if you use a mini ice cream scooper, but I like to hand roll them.)4. Chill for several hours. (You can speed this up by putting in the freezer.)5. Melt chocolate in microwave per directions on package.6. Roll balls in chocolate and lay on wax paper until firm. (Use a spoon to dip and roll in chocolate and then tap off extra.)I also only melt a few pieces of chocolate bark at a time because it starts to cool and thicken. It's easier to work with when it's hot.

You then add a lollipop stick. I would suggest placing them in styrofoam squares to set once on the stick.

By visiting these sites you will then be introduced to many other wonderful cookie, cake and cupcake sites. My hat's off to all of them! I can't wait to go thru the rest of these recipies and start baking!

629 couples vow to set record
By Brian C. RittmeyerTRIBUNE-REVIEWMonday, February 11, 2008

Some couples had been married for less than a year, and one was married for more than 60.
There were brides wearing their wedding gowns, and a couple wearing Penguins jerseys.
Ten were celebrating their wedding anniversaries on Sunday. Another nine will celebrate on Valentine's Day.

"Re-Union: The World's Largest Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony" was staged at the Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland as part of the yearlong celebration of Pittsburgh's 250th anniversary.

To be part of the official count, couples -- who paid $30 each to participate -- had to follow a detailed check-in system, bring a copy of their original marriage certificate and recite the same vows to each other. A reception with wedding cake and champagne followed.

How To Make A Crystal Wedding Tree

This video was found at http://www.videojug.com/ and made by Cristalier http://www.cristalier.com/

A Stunning Focal Point for the room! Perfect for Wedding Receptions, Showers, Engagement, Parties and Brunches.

These trees are absolutely Stunning! They can be used on all of your tables for your centerpieces or just a few. They can be used as accents around the venue such as on the escort card table, or sitting at a special drink station.

Hang votives with candles or use flickering battery powered amber colored simulated flame candles (Depending on the flames proximity to something flammable like another branch, METAL trees as well as artificial and real wood trees, candelabra, pillar candles, etc. have ALL been involved in fires at venues so battery candles are ALWAYS safer. As with ANY centerpiece using candles use precaution!) with ribbons in a matching or accent color to your wedding theme. Hang strands of Swarvoski crystal, faux crystal (acryllic) or hang individual pieces with fishing wire. Add flowers of almost any kind to the branches and decorate the base of the tree with the same flowers. Add Crystal candle holders with taper candles and votives around the base to complete the look.

You can place the large trees on a few tables and then make smaller centerpieces using branches in vases on the other tables. You can make each tree slightly different while maintaining a uniform look with the crystals. (adding leaves and butterflies, glass dew drop vases filled with flowers, test-tube hanger vases wrapped with tiny beads , garlands of flowers, vines, etc.) Just remember that your centerpieces are tall enough that guests can see across the table.

The trees come in several colors such as:

Bright White; High Gloss or Matte or Glitter Dusted
Shimmering Gold
Metallic Silver; Chrome or Matte
Manzanita Red-Brown
Almond Creme
Mocha Java -Glossy Brown
Glossy Jet Black

Trees are made from metal or wrought iron, some are faux Manzanita branches or natural Manzantia (The Manzanitas are a subgenus of the genus Arctostaphylos. They are evergreen shrubs or small trees (with white or pink flowers for example...) present in the chaparral biome of western North America, where they occur from southern British Columbia in Canada, Washington to California and New Mexico in the United States, and throughout much of northern and central Mexico. They are characterised by smooth, orange or red bark and stiff, twisting branches. There are about 60 species of manzanita)

The possibilities for decorationg these is trees is endless.

Supplies to make your crystal wedding trees can be found at your local craft stores. Ask your local nursery for recommendations on purchasing live plants. After all, you want them to look great throughout the entire evening and be able to support the numerous crystals you hang on them.
Some places to buy supplies include:

Cristalier.com, Michaels, Pat Catans, Hobby Lobby, etheraldecor.com

How to Make Crystal Wedding Trees for Outdoor Wedding

If you are planning an outdoor ceremony or outdoor reception, you can use the surrounding trees to turn your wedding into a crystal fantasy. Not only will you save money, but decorating will be a breeze.
Large trees can easily accommodate long strands upwards of 6 feet in length. Hang the strands close together and place lighting near the tree so that it illuminates the crystals as evening approaches.
Use potted trees (faux or live) between 4 and 6 feet tall to enhance your ceremony and head table staging areas. Hang crystals from branches. Wrap small white lights around the trunk and branches for an added lightingeffect.

*Interesting side note...these trees, with the branches removed are used as play gyms in bird cages....

A Cinderella Castle Near You!

If you are planning on having a Cinderella Fairy Tale Wedding you know that: the fairytale wedding starts with draping, and lots of it: draped walls, head tables, cake tables, sweetheart tables, you name it.

Like other fantasy weddings, the fairytale wedding starts with draping, and lots of it: draped walls, head tables, cake tables, sweetheart tables, you name it.

Other ingredients: lots of silver (candelabras, silver cake plateaus), plenty of pinks, classical symbols (swan or double-swan ice sculptures are perfect here), and pearl or rhinestone accents as brooches or bouquet ornaments, and buckets and buckets of rose petals.

Plus, every princess bride needs a really cute card box, whether it be a magic pumpkin or a sassy hot-pink hat box. A giant Storybook guest book would be a cute touch, too.

This theme pretty much determines where you'll hold the reception: a ballroom. Unless, that is, you're lucky enough to be able to book an actual castle, or live near one of America's castle-style buildings.
At (http://www.dupontcastle.com/castles/index) you can check out all the castles in the united states and see if there is one close to you to use on your wedding day. this . The site provides general information about the castles and contact information.
Ideas for Personalizing your Wedding

1. Float edible petals in cocktails, or add colorful candy sticks as stirrers.
2. If you have the time, a personalized note on each escort card will surely make an impression! Guests will not forget being welcomed at your wedding with a handwritten note. It also makes for a nice keepsake.
3. Heirloom Cake Toppers: It's your something borrowed. For added meaning and uniqueness, ask your baker to create a layer using the same flavors as your parents/his parents, grand parents, etc, the origional owners of the cake topper.
4. As a nice surprise for your Bridesmaids, add a single flower that signifies your relationship or feelings about that person with the flowers meaning.
For Instance:

a. For the bridesmaid who has always made you seen the good in any situation: Calla Lilies, symbolizing Beauty.
b. For your childhood friend who has been by your side from the first crush to the last: Purple Lilacs, symbolizing First Love.
c. For your sister: Blue Violets, like the flowers meaning indicates, she has always been your most faithful friend.
Happy 2008!

Weddings this year which take place on 8.8.2008 are supposed to surpass the weddings of last year on 7.7.2007.

In Chinese communities around the world, eight is considered the most fortuitous of numbers, making it much coveted for addresses, phone numbers and bank accounts."

The word for "eight" in Chinese (Pinyin: bā) sounds similar to the word which means "prosper" or "wealth".

There is also a resemblance between two digits, "88", and the shuang xi ('double joy'), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters (xi, 'joy', 'happiness').

Some people also think that 8 can be associated with the symbol meaning infinity (an 8 turned 90 degrees).

The Summer Olympics are scheduled to open on 8/8/08 at 8:08:08 p.m.

**Instead of serving the traditional three-or four-course meal at the reception, consider taking a cue from the Chinese and serve eight small dishes.
